Ready to take your skills to the next level? Come along to Wooden Roots and join us for these brand new classes aimed at INTERMEDIATE LEVEL & above players. Engage in this AUTHENTIC tuition which is taught by selected artists who are top in their field and who are excited to share this wonderful and traditional culture with you.

These classes run for 3 weeks in succession and each class is 90 minutes long and is on Monday evening 7pm-8.30pm in our large modern studio on Bentwaters in Rendlesham.

In February your teacher is Aboubacar Konate from Burkina Faso, West Africa. “Bouba” is a master djembe & dununfola so you are learning from the best. Bouba has a mighty C.V. and you may have met him if you attended The Wooden Roots Experience in August 2023 as he is our resident artist for Dunun support. You may also have witnessed or heard his amazing skills as he plays several instruments for Balimaya Project a phenomenal band based in London who were placed 8/10 best albums in 2023.

Seats are limited so we recommend booking and reserving your seat as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Not sure if this is the level for you? Here is a description of what we feel should be INTERMEDIATE LEVEL.

INTERMEDIATE - An intermediate drummer is confident with a number of different accompaniment patterns and is used to learning solo phrases, breaks and can play these competently with a group. Playing techniques like the slap and tone notes can be clearly identified.  You would be expected to play dunduns without much direction during a class or workshop.  Your instruments should be authentic, properly maintained and tuned to the ensemble. You should not require hand-written notation.

We may have different teachers throughout the year but they will all be delivering INTERMEDIATE & ABOVE TUITION and ensuring that you are pushed in each class so that your skills are increased each time you attend a 3 week course with us.

If you would like to speak to us before booking a class please call Penny on 07760 161113 or Gemma on 07846 761145
