Learn about African culture through story-telling, songs and percussion with Kayleen Shani, a self published author from Kenya.

More about Kayleen… a mother of two and experience working with children as a former nursery school teacher. Kayleen started writing music after moving to the UK over a decade ago. After reading numerous story books with her children Kayleen was inspired to write a children's book. She longed to write a story with an excellent moral and she also wanted to incorporate Swahili, Kenya's national language, into her storybook. Kayleen aims to introduce the reader to a new language and culture by introducing the story's Swahili words and short phrases. Kayleen’s most recent book is selling on Amazon called "Sungura the Runaway Rabbit" about a little rabbit longing for independence

Apart from introducing the readers to a new language and culture, Kayleen teaches essential life lessons that young children can learn, such as independence, self-belief, confidence and reflection. With a passion for storytelling, a love for children, and cultural awareness, Kayleen is passionate about promoting diversity and culture through stories and music.
