DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful set of Dunun drums which were hand-carved and built in Bamako, Mali. The outer decorative carving design and symbol represents “Kanaga” which is a mask used by the Dogon tribe in Mali. This set was carved from Melina wood which is typically lighter in weight than the darker hardwoods. With the set of three drums you can be play them individually, in pairs or in a trio. Each drum has two heads which enables you to have even more tonal range as each side sounds naturally different.
This full size dunun set consists of a Dununba, Sangban & Kenkeni (Large, Medium & Small) of which measurements and weights are listed below. All three drums in this set are headed with matching cow skins from Mali and are in tune with each other to produce the best tonal “Timbre” bass sounds.
